LAWLINE

LawLine is an online and toll-free telephone application process for Virginia Legal Aid Society, Inc. We serve those who live in, or have a legal problem in, the following cities and counties:  Amelia, Amherst, Appomattox, Brunswick, Buckingham, Campbell, Charlotte, Cumberland, Danville, Emporia, Franklin City, Greensville, Halifax, Henry, Isle of Wight, Lunenburg, Lynchburg, Martinsville, Mecklenburg, Nottoway, Patrick, Pittsylvania, Prince Edward, South Boston, Southampton, Suffolk, and Sussex.  Go to www.valegalaid.org for help in other areas of Virginia.

LawLine staff provide FREE legal information, advice, and referrals in civil cases (not criminal or traffic) to eligible low-income residents. All callers are screened for income eligibility before receiving services.

Advice is provided by telephone. If ongoing legal representation is needed, eligible callers may be referred to our legal services' branch office or volunteer attorney program.

Spanish speaking staff and assistance for the hearing and visually impaired are available. Interpreters for other languages are available on an as-needed basis through the use of Language Line at no charge to the caller. If needed press 2 at the first message to get the local office staff.

When you are ready, call toll-free (866) 534-5243 during the hours of 9am - 3:30pm M,T, Th, F.   Calls to this number can only be made from within Virginia. If you call from inside Virginia but outside our service area you will be automatically routed to the legal aid program in your area but it won't be VLAS. If you are having trouble reaching us with a cell phone acquired outside our service area (so the area code and exchange are not within it) then try 434-455-3080 to reach LawLine.
